The current Clean + Kind Daily Moisturizing Sunscreen is listed as SPF 40. Refer to the current product and package label when choosing and using sunscreen. Browse the tallow sunscreen collection to compare available formats and their labels.
Read the complete label
Check the SPF, broad-spectrum statement, active ingredients, water-resistance statement and directions. These details describe different aspects of a sunscreen. Do not assume water resistance, a particular application time or all-day protection from the product name alone.
Choose your finish
The current product has tinted and untinted variants. View the product photographs and the formula for your chosen option. Tinted sunscreen is not automatically a match for every skin tone, and its finish is a separate consideration from the label's tested protection claims.
Apply before sun exposure
Follow the amount and timing on the package. General FDA sunscreen guidance says to apply 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every two hours. Follow the product's specific instructions for swimming, sweating and towel drying. Use other sun-protection measures such as shade and protective clothing.
Plan for reapplication
A morning application is not a promise of protection for the entire day. SPF is not a countdown of how long you can remain outdoors. Keep the product available for reapplication and check the label before activities involving water or sweat.
Understand what the ingredient list tells you
The Drug Facts panel identifies the sunscreen active ingredients. The inactive ingredient list describes the rest of the formula. A familiar ingredient or a moisturizing texture does not replace the finished product's tested SPF. Avoid using a botanical oil or ordinary moisturizer as a substitute for labeled sunscreen.
